Main Introduction

The aim of my main task is to be able to produce my own music magazine aimed at a specific target audience which will be issued every two weeks to keep the readers up to date. my target audience will be my consumers, the people who buy &B magazines, which are mainly from the age range of 14 -25 My magazine will consist of a front cover, a content page and a double page spread which I am required to create myself from scratch, I will capture all my images myself and only use primary data; I am also require to use ‘Photoshop’ as my editing software which will demonstrate my media skills. The genre I chose to explore and to base my own magazine around is R&B/Hip-Hop
To gain further information and understanding of how to create a magazine and make it look realistic, I will research and analyse existing R&B/Hip-Hop magazines. I will then begin to plan my own magazine; I will capture my own effective images and add all the information needed. I will carry out my own primary research by interviewing people aged 14-25 as this will give me an indication as to what people  expect from an R&B/Hip-Hop magazine.
I have many skills which will make my magazine a success, I am focused with creative ideas that will help improve my magazine, making it unique appealable and will allow it to sell. My creative side and my imagination will help me greatly with my planning and will allow me to come up with various ideas and the use of Photoshop will allow me to me to create a magazine to the best of my ability.

Introduction For Preliminary Task

The aim of the preliminary task is to produce a school magazine that is aimed successfully at the target audience. During this task I am required to produce a magazine from scratch aimed at sixth formers featuring a mid shot of a person. I am required to capture all images manually and use ‘Photoshop’ as my editing software.
My ideas for my magazine are as followed:
·         My main cover story will be about the new library located in the recently built building, therefore the main imagine will be of a student taking out a book located inside the library.
·         My name and master head for my magazine will be called “Heston Times”, which i thought was an appropriate and appealing name. It will be created on ‘Dafont’ and will be bold and blue to make it visible and attractive to the audience.
·         The background will be the entire picture, as it will be blown up to fit the page, this is to give the magazine more of an effect and to get the message of the new library across more effectively.
·         The main headline will be “new library opened” which will be in black, and also a quote from another student to make the magazine more interactive, which will be written in a eye catching blue.
My magazine will be aimed at the target audience o 6th formers as it will be easier to produce as it is directed at my age group so I have the knowledge of what will be successful to include within the magazine. The purpose of my magazine is to inform the readers about the changes within in Heston Community School; this is why I have decided to issue my magazine every month, as it will keep my readers updated with all the new changes. It will be more beneficial to have the magazine issued every month rather than every week, as it would be pointless to include irrelevant stories rather than big issues and problems. To make my magazine a success i will take on board inputs from other students as it will give me more ideas on how to improve my magazine. The way in which i can attract and appeal to my target audience is through the use of colours, my colours will be bright bold and visible, with red blue and yellow writing. Another way to attract my audience is through the choice of images, the image i have chosen is of a student looking at a book in the library, which demonstrates my experimentation of different elements on Photoshop to see what they convey, for example cropping an image, adding more layers or changing colours. The reason I think students will read my magazine as it is about their own school and the benefits the changes has on them.
